Letters from Tahn, part IV

I was out of town for work for three days and two nights, and my dear friend Summer took care of my sweet Tahn. Of course, while I was away, Tahn wrote me letters. Enjoy.

____

Dear Mum, today was super fun! I played in mud puddles, beat Aunt Copper’s dog in tug-o-war (finally!) and now I’m watching The Fantastic Mr. Fox. I miss you, but I’m having the best time. Oh, I really like Aunt Copper’s daughter, Honey (Mum, she is a CAT and lives in the house!). I kinda want to eat her, but that would upset Aunt Copper, so I just play with her instead. Can we get one?

Love, Tahn

Dear Mum,

Aunt Copper’s friend Chris came over last night.  I was SO excited to see him because he really likes to play fetch and always fills up the big pink tub for me to splash around in.  Since he got there so late he said I would have to wait until today.  He woke up a couple of times and looked a little freaked out to see my dark eyes staring back at him from the edge of the bed.  He even asked Aunt Copper if I needed to go to the bathroom, but she told him I was just too excited to sleep or wanted up on the bed.  Sure enough when he FINALLY woke up today he threw the ball around for me and I got to splash in the cool water.  He mentioned something about dognapping me?

Anyway, now I’m sleepy, which brings me to my next tale.  Today at lunch Aunt Copper came home.  She may have been a little surprised to find me asleep in the dog house, but it was so cozy I couldn’t help myself.  Aunt Copper’s  dog was sleeping under the hammock, which she says is her new favorite spot.  We’re having a lazy day, Mum.  Aunt Copper’s dog and I were so happy to see Aunt Copper and I told her so, but I was a good girl and sat politely while she ate her lunch.

Love,

Tahn xoxo

____

Dear Mum,

Aunt Copper says to tell you that I am being the BEST girl and she promises that her friend Chris was only joking about dognapping me.  I still don’t know what this dognapping is all about, but I think it must mean that he likes me?  Time for another nap; I have to rest up for another round of tug-o-war later.  Copper’s dog wants a rematch.  I can’t wait to see you tomorrow, Mum!!

Love,

Tahn xoxo

____

Dear Tahn,

I am so happy for you! It sounds like you are having a wonderful time. I’m glad Aunt Copper is taking care of you so well. But, tell her friend Chris that you are mine – but he can play with you anytime. Tahn, be a good girl and do not disturb anyone when they sleep tonight, okay? I’ll be home tomorrow night. I can’t wait to see you.

Love you lots,

Mum xxxxoooo

____

Dear Mum,
Aunt Copper took this photo of me early this morning.  She says I have the most beautiful dark eyes.  I know you said I’m not supposed to stare at people while they sleep, but I just can’t help it.  Please don’t be cross with me.  Aren’t I cute?!

I can’t wait to see you tonight!!  Drive safe.

Love,
Tahn  xoxo

(And one more…)

Hey MUM!

G-pa doesn’t know it but I’m using his Google Voice account! I’m having fun at Copper’s house.  I love her dog!!  I wish she had a name though…

Love,

Tahn

Thank you to Summer for taking such great care of Tahnee. Tahn was so happy when I picked her up (and dropped her off) and it took away all the sadness I feel when I usually leave her. I can’t be more grateful.

Letters from Tahn, Part III

Tahn and Copper (Summer's dog) on a playdate. (Note the chairs on the couch to prevent them from laying on it...)

Dear Auntie Copper Summer,

(I don’t know why my mum keeps correcting your name. I’ve told her a hundred times, your name is Copper…) Thank you so very much for coming to see me during your lunch yesterday. My mum is awful and selfish and couldn’t leave work to come and take care of me so I am so appreciative for you. I am sorry it took me a while to go hurry; I was being slightly naughty. Next time bring your dog to have a play date again. I just love her. But not as much as I love you. This morning I told my mum that you were coming with your dog, but she told me I was wrong. So I sat by the front window looking out for you. You didn’t come. I guess she was right.

Love you lots,

Tahn

*Editor’s note: Tahn thinks that my friend Summer’s name is Copper, because that is Summer’s dog’s name. We have tried to teach her Summer’s real name, but there’s quite a learning curve…

**Oh, and Tahnee’s bathroom command is “hurry” from when she trained to be a service dog.

Letters from Tahn, Part II

Since I was gone this weekend at the Kinetic Grand Championship, Tahn stayed the weekend with her Grandpa. Usually, Tahn has a great time at her Grandpa’s. But, this weekend, my dad (Tahn’s Grandpa) had a lot of house work to do, and Tahn was not happy about it.

Back by popular demand, (I say “popular demand” loosely) I present you more Letters from Tahn:

Dear Mum,
Well, last night Grandpa and I went to bed around 11.  He moved my bed into his room and I went to bed and he went in to have a shower.  When he came out he went into his office to look at your computer as he was running anti-virus on it.  I came out to see what he was doing and he gave me pets.  Then I went back to bed, but I’d forgotten where it was!  I wandered around the living room then came back to see Grandpa.  I was upset!  Grandpa showed me where my bed was and I bunny-hopped into it!  I was very happy!!!
Love, TAHN
____
Dear Mum,
So, Grandpa left me all alone to go off to get the baby.  When he got back he noticed little pieces of wood all over the house, but didn’t know what they were.  Eventually he found enough of them to figure out they were golf tees.  He had left his golf bag unzipped and I found them!!!
He is wondering:
1. How long I searched before I found them.
2. How I found them at all because they were in a little pocket on the bag that would be hard to locate, especially for someone who can’t find her bed.
3. How I knew they were insignificant and I wouldn’t get in trouble for destroying them.
These are the mysteries of Tahn…
___
Dear Mum,
Grandpa took me for  a walk after dinner, without the stroller.  He says I was a different dog!  I wandered out in front, I didn’t sit when he stopped, I didn’t pay attention to him at all, NOTHING like when the stroller (I saw wheelchair) was there.  Grandpa thinks he should push the stroller every time we go on a walk, even if the baby isn’t here.  I think that’s mean…
___
Dear Mum,
I’m mad at Grandpa!  I want to wander in the way the entire time he’s working on the kitchen, and he wants me to lay on my bed.
I’m going to kill him in his sleep tonight…but for now I’m having a little rest.
___
Dear Mum,
So, I’m having a hard time defining my role today.  Grandpa won’t let me wander around in his way, and I hate the noisy place anyway so that’s OK.  But, when he goes in his office I have to help.  He’s in there now having a little something to eat (didn’t get me anything) so I joined him, but when he starts in again on the kitchen I have to go back to my bed.  I should have come with you camping, I could snuggle with you and keep you warm!!!
___
Dear Mum,
So, Grandpa was in the garage and I forgot her was here.  You’d think I would hear him sawing and sanding, but…
Anyway, he came back in and caught me in his bedroom.  I was up to something but he didn’t see what, and I’m not telling!
But, I was very guilty so I ran into his office to hide.  He made me go to my bed…now I’m in time-out…
___
Dear Mum,Well, Grandpa is getting lazier and lazier.  This morning I had to jump up and give him kisses to get him going.  I got very excited and nearly jumped onto his bed!!!  And, every time he pets me I attack, I’ve decided to finish him off once and for all.I miss you terribly, every time the neighbor comes home and honks her Honda my ears prick up!!!Love, Tahn

___
Clearly, Tahn missed me as much as I missed her. Here are some pictures my dad snapped of the sweet, sad, Tahn.

Tahn, having a rest on her bed at her Grandpa's.

Poor Tahn.

Letters from Tahn

I know. I know. I haven’t blogged in over 2 months. Well, I moved to my first solo apartment (more about this coming soon) and I didn’t have internet for the first 45 days at my new place. I now have internet, and I am back to blogging!

I am away from home working this week, so my wonderful dad is taking care of my sweet Tahn. He kindly sends letters to me from her. Please see two letters from her below.

Have a great one!

_____

Dear Mum,

Grandpa changed the oil on the truck this morning.  He took me out to help him, but he took me through the garage door. I hate going through that door so I was very upset.  So, he took me back inside, then brought me out through the front door.  I was so happy!  I sniffed around out front for 1/2 hour or so, Grandpa didn’t worry about me at all.  When I was done sniffing I sat in the driveway, close enough to help Grandpa but far enough to be out of the way.  I just sat there, being so good!  And, Grandpa let me ride in the truck when he backed it on and off of the ramps.  That was fun!

Now the dishwasher is coming so I’m going to have to help install it.  I’m going to take a little nap first to re-charge!!!

Love,
Tahn

______

Dear Mum,

Things have taken a turn.  Grandpa and I finished installing the dishwasher.  He was hungry so he made himself a sandwich.  Naturally I thought I was getting one as soon as he took out the bread.  HE DIDN’T GIVE ME ONE!!!!

Tonight, when he sleeps, I’m going to give him a bite…then blame it on the feral cat!!!

Love, Tahn

_____

(A litte back story – Tahn has been getting peanut butter sandwiches with medication in them for her ear infections. She gets very upset if she doesn’t get a sandwich if you pull bread or peanut butter out….)
